A Bit About The Geek

So what’s up with “The Faithful Geek” you may ask? Well, I am first and foremost a faithful person. Second I am a total computer geek! So, what is more appropriate then “The Faithful Geek”? It sort of sums up my personality and beliefs in one title.

I fell in love with the computer long before I found the love I have for Christ. I started making web pages using an old WebTV in the late 90′s. For those of you who do not know what a WebTV is, it was a box that you hooked up to your TV to surf the Internet. There were no download capabilities and very few upload options. Basically I had to learn HTML (web page coding language) from scratch and write all the code within the web browser. Not long after creating those old style web pages I lost touch with the computer for several years. Now I am back in the chair and have my trusty mouse by my side once again.

About 4 years ago I decided to create a website using Dreamweaver for my artisan jewelry line. Being back “in the code” so to speak felt natural and exciting. Now, I have created several websites for local businesses in my area and I have gone back to college for my bachelor’s in Web Development.

In the meantime, I have grown as a person as well. I believe in Christ as my savior and love the Bible. After I finish my Web Development degree I plan on continuing school to obtain my master’s in Biblical Studies. It is my intention to create web-based programs to make learning the Bible online easier. I am currently one of two Adult Sunday School teachers at my church and have found a passion for teaching. I really do not know where this journey through college, web and teaching will lead, but it will be one interesting and fun learning experience.

So, being a Faithful Geek it is! The perfect sum of both of my passions. This is why the title fits so well.

In His Service,

The Faithful Geek
